Some romantic comedies are really popular on video on demand. About a month ago, Bounty Hunter was on top over at Amazon. Now Date Night is high on the list of best-selling Video(s) on Demand.

Having never seen either, I can only guess why.

1. Date nights need movies. Dinner can only carry you so far. How can you extend that date?

2. Movies at home are cozier and less expensive. Snuggling on the couch is the best way to watch a romantic comedy. Reserve the movie theater budget for the big special fx extravaganzas.

3. Big stars. Tina Fey and Steve Carell? You know you’re going to laugh your butt off.

Who knew simple dinner reservations under a different name could turn one New Jersey couple’s date night so terribly upside-down? Claire (Tina Fey) and Phil (Steve Carell) Foster leave their kids with the sitter (Leighton Meester) and head out for a night on the town — as the Tripplehorns. Shawn Levy (Just Married, Night at the Museum) directs this action-comedy; Mark Wahlberg and James Franco co-star.
